Review: Kiehl's products Part 1

Hey everyone,

my amazing best friend got me the Kiehl's Adventcalendar for my birthday back in December and I have been using all the products that were in it ever since, so I wanted to write a little review on them for you today!

I've always loved Kiehl's, I've tried some of their products before and really enjoyed them! So I was really excited when they came out with their very first Adventcalendar last year. It's perfect for trying out a product from their range to see if it's something you would want to repurchase later in full size and I found all the stuff lasted me long enough to decide if I liked it or not!

I haven't tried all of the products from the calendar yet, but I can say something about the ones I have been using since December. Please excuse the unpolished nails in all the pics as well.. I was in between manis ;)

Let's start off with face cream! All three moisturisers I have tried so far, I used in the day time and at night time, too.

The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream was the first face cream I wanted to try, I had heard so much about it and wanted to see for myself if it was worth the hype - and it totally is!
First of all, the size (0.25 fl. oz. / 7 ml) was perfect for testing, it lasted me about two weeks which for me is enough time to see if I like it and if it works for my skin, too. I hate squishing products out of these little sachets that you can't reseal, so I loved that this came in a proper little container.
What I also really liked was the smell, which is a clean scented one (not sure how else I can describe it) and the texture. It wasn't too heavy and not too light, a really nice in between consistency that went on beautifully when applied to the face! All in all, a really great daily moisturiser, I was actually really sad when I had used it all up!

Repurchase? Definitely!

The next cream I tried after that was the Kiehl's Super Multi-Corrective Cream. I had never heard of it, so I googled around and watched a few YouTube Videos on it but couldn't really find anything that interesting, apart from it supposedly being an amazing cream that "visibly lifts, firms and retexturizes skin" - like it says on the little container.
I liked it a lot, the consistency was really nice, just as smooth as the Ultra Facial Cream, but I didn't feel as if it did anything special for me. One thing that I didn't like too much was the smell, it has a certain scent that probably has something to do with the ingredients (maybe the beech tree extract? Who knows) and wasn't exactly up my street. It didn't bother me that much that it would be a reason for me not to repurchase it, but I would prefer the Ultra Facial Moisturiser to this one.

Repurchase? Not necessarily.

The third face cream is the Kiehl's Skin Rescuer. This is my least favourite out of the three. I do like that it comes out of a tube, as I'm not the biggest fan of sticking my fingers into little tubs and getting cream under my fingernails. But I don't like the consistency of this one at all. It's a bit too thick for my taste and doesn't go onto my face as smoothly as the other ones did. Although this one works ok when mixed with the Midnight Recovery Serum which I will mention next.

It's supposed to "Reduce visible signs of stress and flare-ups including skin fatigue and redness", but I haven't really seen a big change in my skin since using this. It's ok, but not really my type of facial moisturiser. I'm going to use it up, but won't be sad when I'm finally done with it.

Repurchase? Nope.

Another face product is the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This one I had already tried a while back and knew I would like. It's one of Kiehl's best selling products and if you're into serums/concentrates/facial oils you will love this one too!
I'm not going to rave about it like everyone else, there are enough reviews out there that probably everyone and their mother have heard about this product by now, but I'll still share my thoughts on it :)

The serum/concentrate is perfect as an overnight treatment for your skin to drink up. I've mostly read to use about 4-5 drops and pat it into your skin. But a) I am never quite sure when to do this step (before or after moisturiser?!), b) for some reason I'm not very good at patting oil onto my skin and c) my skin is on the verge of being a bit too oily most of the time anyway, so I prefer to just mix 1 or 2 drops into my nightly moisturiser and then rub them together before applying everything to my face. It feels very nice and luxurious when you have it on and your skin looks hydrated and replenished in the morning, I really can tell a difference on the nights I use it.

What I don't like about this product, is the container it comes in. You have to crack the plastic open at the top by bending it back and you can't close it again, something I hate! As this product lasts forever (at least with me and my 1 drop a night) it stands there open, awkwardly leaning on something to keep it upright from spilling. Also, I think they could have filled that plastic thingy up a bit more, it's only half full... but I'll stop complaining about a free product right now ;) If you buy the full size, it comes in a (very pretty) blue glass bottle with a pipette, which makes for easy dosage.

If you don't like facial oils/concentrates, then this one obviously isn't for you. If you have dry skin, this is probably exactly what you want to put on your face every night. Probably even the recommended 4-5 drops!

Repurchase? Definitively!

The Kiehl's Ultra Facial Toner was a products I hadn't heard about before, so I was excited to try it. Please don't mind the dirty patch on the bottle, all the 'bigger' products were stuck to the inside of the calendar with these little pieces of glue that never really come off, so what you see here is the rest of that.

At first I was a bit surprised, as the consistency totally threw me off! It's not as liquid as your average toner, it has a more thicker, creamy consistency. I wasn't sure if you use it like any other toner (pump it onto a cotton pad and swipe it over your entire face) but after some internet research I learned that it's exactly what you do! It took some getting used to, but after a while I really liked it! It's not as harsh as other toners, due to the more creamy consistency and probably also the ingredients used in it. At first I wasn't sure it was doing it's job as well as others, because you don't get the usual squeaky clean feeling after swiping your face with it. But after using it for about a week I quite enjoyed that!
Again, the size was perfect for trying this product, at 1.4 fl. oz / 40 ml it lasted me as long as both the above facial creams lasted me together, so about 4 weeks!
I still have a full sized bottle of Clarins toner to go through, but I could see myself returning to this in the future!

Repurchase? Yes!

I am so lazy when it comes to regularly washing my face before bed time and I have also struggled to find a cleanser I really like. But the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser has got me looking forward to washing the day off my face in the evening!
Like with all cleansers, I wet my face and then put about a pea sized amount of the product onto my Shiseido Cleansing Massage Brush (which looks like a Clarisonic you have to manually use - i love it!!) and wash my face with this. After washing it off my skin feels nicely hydrated and so clean! But not in an uncomfortable way, which is what I really like about this cleanser! It's gentle and doesn't drain all the moisture from your face.
The size it perfect too and I can see myself rebuying this to use as a travel cleanser! As the name says, I think it's probably from the same line as the Ultra Facial Cream and/or compliments the moisturiser. It works with any moisturiser though, I am still using and loving it! :) As soon as I run out, I want the full size!

Repurchase? Definitively!

The Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment With Avocado has become my favourite night time eye cream. As it's a really thick and rich cream, you can really only use it at night, at least that's what I do. It takes a bit to absorb, which is fine when you are going to bed anyway.
I don't have that much to say about it, apart from that I like it and will keep using it. As you don't need much of it, I think this is going to last me a very long time!

Repurchase? Maybe.

Another one I have been using is the Kiehl's Rosa Artica Eye cream. This one I use in the day time (if I have the time and can be bothered to put it on..) because it's very light weight and quickly sinks into the skin. It goes on smoothly and has a very nice feel. I'm not sure it's working miracles, but I do like it and will keep using it till I finish it.

Repurchase? Maybe.

Last I have the Kiehl's Creme De Corps body lotion. This one was a bit of a let down for me, I had heard so many good things about it but there was nothing special to it. The consistency was ok, a bit too creamy for me, it took a while to sink into my skin which I don't like too much as I always shower in the morning and don't really have time to wait around until I can put my clothes on. I ended up using this one my feet, I slathered it on, put some cozy socks over it and went to bed. It's nice, but it didn't wow me.

Repurchase? Nope.

I still have lots of stuff to go through, so you can look forward to a Part 2! I haven't used the two hair products and body wash yet and there is another moisturiser I am keen to put to the test as well :)

I hope you enjoyed this little review! Drop me a comment if you did or didn't, do you like these kind of posts too or would you rather see more nails?

Lots of Love,
Glittr
