Review: DailyHuesNailLacquer Valentines Day Trio

Hey everyone,

look what came in the Mail today!! It's the DailyHuesNailLacquer Valentines Day Trio!
I immediately swatched these because I have been waiting for them quite a while, international shipping takes for freaking ever..!

I've swatched a few DailyHues polishes a while back and they were gorgeous, if you want to check those out you can head over here. Jenn makes some beautiful mixes and they are very unique, if you haven't heard of or seen any of her up until now, I highly recommend checking her out!

For Valentines Day she came out with this cute little mini trio. As I love my pinks and purples and all the polishes I've tried from DailyHues, of course I had to have them! :)

The three polishes are called Kari, Lololi and Davina - look at those teeny tiny bottles!! So cute!

First up is Kari, a really gorgeous light purple holo. Shown are three thin coats. I think this is my favourite of the three, it's just so pretty!
I have no idea what that weird shadow on my ring finger is though.. sorry about that ;)

Next is Lololi, a beautiful red holo. This is two coats and I love it! I don't own anything like this and I think it's perfect for all those Vday manis!

Last but not least we have Davina, this is a pearly pink with gold glitters. Shown are two coats and I like the mix of pink and gold a lot, so girly! :) I'm not normally into pearly finishes, but this one I really like!

All in all I think it's a really cute little trio and the colors are really pretty! They are all perfect for Vday and would look awesome with some nail art too!

The Valentines Day Trio by DailyHuesNailLacquer is only available in a mini set, you can buy them over at www.dailyhuesnaillacquer.com - check out all the stunning polishes Jenn has in her shop too, I promise you're going to check out with more than you originally wanted to get ;)

Swatch: OPI - My Private Jet

Hey everyone,

so I've heard a lot about OPI My Private Jet and then saw it in the store a few weeks back, obviously I had to get it to see what all the fuss was about.

I will say it is pretty, but I still haven't made up my mind if I really love it..

In the picture above, it looks more brown. But it changes depending on the light and sometimes looks dark grey or black. I like the shift, but I would prefer it as a black or grey rather than brown I think.
It's filled with silvery shimmers and flakies, and it sparkles gorgeously. It's definitely an interesting polish!

You can see the depth of it a bit better in this pic, it also shows how the color shifts from brown to black/grey. You're seeing two coats plus topcoat in all the pictures here.

All in all, it's intriguing, but I'm not sure it's worth the hype. I've also read that there were different batches made of these, maybe I got one of the newer, not so exciting one, who knows. But it sure is unique and pretty in its own way.

What do you guys think? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Nailart: LOVE over gradient

Hey everyone,

continuing the Valentines Day theme ;) I branched out a bit and had my very first try at using acrylic paint! I created these simple LOVE letters over a gradient and I am absolutely thrilled about how they came out! :)

I started out by doing a simple two coloured gradient with ColorClub's Je T'aime and Wicker Park, two of my faves by CC! They blended together gorgeously, I put down one coat of Essie Blanc which I let dry for about 10 minutes before I created the gradient with a simple little make up sponge.

I tried using acrylic paint for the very first time in this mani. I had never tried it before and I always refused to buy any, because I have so much polish it was hard for me to justify now also buying huge amounts of acrylic paint!! But I will say, I only bought one color, black. And this was for the simple reason that I couldn't stand black polish smudging on my nails any longer! No matter how long I waited or how delicately I swept the polish brush with my topcoat over the nail, it always destroyed my design by dragging the black paint. So I thought I might invest in some acrylic paint, as it dries quicker and the topcoat doesn't do it any harm!
When I painted the letters, I was also really happy with the precision of the paint. If you use nail polish, I feel like it just does whatever it wants. Clean lines? Can't make it work with polish, at least not me. I always have to use striping tape. But even though my lines in this mani are not perfect, I never would have even come close if I had attempted this with black nail polish!! Also, imagine putting all that effort into it, just to later smudge it all when putting the finishing layer of topcoat on... you get my drift.

This is also my favourite picture of all the (54,684) pictures I took of this mani. Normally I love a good bottle shot, but this just needed all the attention to itself :)

Hope you enjoyed looking at these as much as I did!! :) I can see myself trying more designs with acrylic paint in the future.. maybe I'll even get a bottle of white..? ;)

Nailart: Valentines Day stamping accent

Hey everyone,

I know it's still January, but you all know I love my pinks so I thought I'd start early on the Vday nails  this year! :)

I did a really simple little mix and match using Essie Watermelon, Blanc and Romper Room. I topped my ring finger with a L'Oreal glitter topper I got the other day called Graffiti d'Amour. On my middle finger I did some stamping with Essie Watermelon, and although I smudged my stamping a teeny tiny bit, I didn't really mind all that much and I think it still looks pretty :) I used a Pueen stamping plate in number 43.

The glitter topper looks really cute in the bottle, but it's a little tricky to transfer a lot of glitter onto your nail with one coat.. there is more clear base than glitter, so you'll have to either be happy with one coat and few glitters, dab it on with a sponge (this helps with soaking up some of the clear polish and enabling you to dab the remaining glitter on to your nails) or like me, try and just dab on some glitters with the brush. Not my preferred method, but it was too late for me to turn to one of the other options once I had started..
It's still cute though, it contains white, light pink and red/dark pink glitters in a clear base and is part of the Top Coat Confettis Line by L'Oreal.

2015 is here!

Happy New Year everyone! Even though I'm a bit late with this, I didn't have the time or could muster the energy to write a blogpost up until now, so here I finally am!

A new year always makes people want to change, start fresh or drop habits. I'm no exception here, but instead of making huge resolutions I'm not going to follow through anyway, I thought a little harder about what I want to do this year and thought I'd share it with you.

I've not had the best start to 2015, I'm not going to go into any details but it's extremely frustrating and really getting me down. Even before this though, I had already made up my mind to remember something every day:

Image from Pinterest

I tend to get really annoyed about the smallest things and ruin my entire day. You probably all know the feeling when you get home in the evening and it's just been one of those days.. everything went wrong and you just want to curl up and shut yourself off from the rest of the world. I have these days now and again, so I want to remember that there is something good in every day and not everything is awful. Especially on crappy days like the ones I am having at the moment, I recap my day in the evening and find something that made me happy, even if it's just the tiniest of things. It's good to keep these things in mind, I just need to do this more. Overall, I just want to be a bit more positive, so even if the quote is really cheesy and old, I want to keep in in the back of my head.

Other things I want to do this year?

  • Get a new and better camera to take proper pictures for this blog. My phone just can't compete..
  • Give this blog a makeover!
  • Meet more amazing people like the ones I have met over the past year, I am so thrilled there are so many lovely girls out there that I have had the pleasure to meet so far! And let's face it, no one gets why you love polish so much unless they have the same addiction ;)
  • Clean up my house, this has been looming over my bf and my head for ages, this year is the year we finally tackle it!
  • Go to New York and meet one of my fellow nail addicts!!
  • Get married... :)

So, I'll take you along for the journey if you're interested, maybe this year won't be all nails here, that was actually never my intention in the first place. I want to branch out and write about lots of things and also take more pretty (or rather prettier) pictures to go along with them.

What do you want to do in 2015? Do you have any plans or resolutions?

I hope you enjoy my future posts, I sure am excited to start! :)

Bring it on, 2015!

Lots of Love,
Glittr
